Kings XI Punjab captain R Ashwin stuck to this season’s trend of chasing at the Wankhede Stadium, choosing to bowl first in a crucial game against Mumbai Indians. No team has opted to bat first at this ground this season.
In a must-win game, Mumbai brought back Kieron Pollard for JP Duminy. Captain Rohit Sharma said Mumbai had done well in the second half of the season to stay alive in the tournament, but “fearless cricket was needed to get two points.”
